  • Last year’s cohort presents policies to legislators

August to October:

  • Attend two-day retreat (in person)
  • Bring one-sentence problem statements (Example: Too many teens die in car crashes)
  • Create policy committees, chairs, and work plans

November to December

  • Advise staff of needed training
  • Present ideas to COYAC members for feedback

January to February

  • Research the problem and potential solutions
  • Meet with experts and organizations

March to April

  • Continue outreach to experts and organizations
  • Draft problem/solution memos and get feedback from COYAC members
  • Attend Day at the Capitol (in person)

May to June

  • Finalize memos with policy recommendations (see our previous work)
  • Rehearse for presentations to legislators
  • Awards & Senior Send-Off Dinner (in person)
